Lesson Intent

Learning Objectives:


  1. How to convert positive denary whole numbers (0–255) into 2 digit hexadecimal numbers and vice versa
  2. How to convert from binary to hexadecimal equivalents and vice versa
  1. Understand what Hexadecimal is
  2. Know how to convert between Binary, Denary and Hexadecimal
  3. Apply skills to answer questions and improve technique​​​​

Starter:
Play this space invaders game based what is your high score? Can you beat this two year old at the game?  Why is she so good?

Main:
In this lesson you will learn about the Hexadecimal number system.  You will learn how to convert between Hex, Denary and Binary
  1. Read about Hexadecimal
  2. Read the instruction sheet and complete the work sheet 
  3. Check the answers with a Peer.
  4. Use your knowledge of Binary to create an image using this bitmap maker, share your code with another student, can they decode the image?
